A five-member Board of Directors for the Quality Control Company Limited, a subsidiary of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has been inaugurated by Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the Minister of Agriculture.

In an address after administering the Oaths of Office and of Secrecy, Dr. Afriyie Akoto implored the members to work together to help improve the quality of cocoa beans Ghana sells on the international and local markets.

He reminded them of the government’s continuous support to the cocoa industry to ensure that Ghana becomes the world’s largest exporter of premium quality cocoa beans.

Dr. Ebenezer Owusu, Chairman of the Board, who is also a lecturer and Head of Department of the Plant and Environmental Biology at the University of Ghana, on behalf of members pledged to work diligently to ensure the sustenance of the cocoa industry.

Other members of the Board include; Dr. Barima Afranie, a Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Ghana, Mr. S.B Kangbere, a businessman.

The rest are Maxwell Karikari Addo (Nana), acting Managing Director Quality Control Company Limited and Mr. Kwaku Oppong, a businessman, a representative of the Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs).

The Chairman for the Board, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu, also assured the Minister on behalf of the members of their commitment to work hard to reposition QCC to make it a world-class one.

The Board of Directors of QCC later paid a working visit to the Chief Executive of COCOBOD to introduce themselves.
